Message Title: You’ve Been Prepared For This – Week 2 of the We Are Moving! Series

Scriptures: Joshua 1:1-5 (NKJV)

1After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.

5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

Power Point:

Being prepared is more important than being passionate.

Definitions:

Qualifications – a quality or accomplishment that makes someone suitable for a particular job or activity. Qualifications are needed to walk into certain assignments. God has never released anyone into an assignment until they were qualified.

God requires the individual to be qualified before receiving responsibilities:

  • Qualifications of Overseers – 1 Timothy 3:1-7
  • Qualifications of Deacons – 1 Timothy 3:8-12

Qualities of Joshua:

  • Fighter/Protector – Exodus 17:8–9 (NKJV)

8 Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”

  • Servant’s Heart – Exodus 24:13 (NKJV)

13 So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.

  • Supportive/Committed – Numbers 14:6 (NKJV)

6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;

  • Trusted with Delegated Authority – Numbers 27:18–20 (NKJV)

18 And the Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; 19 set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. 20 And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

  • Dependency of God – Exodus 33:11 (NKJV)

11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

  • Ability to See the Future – Numbers 14:30–31 (NKJV)

30 Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. 31 But your little ones, whom you said would be victims, I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised.
