Season Part 6: When It’s Time to Be Seen

Acts 6:5–6 (NKJV)

“And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.”

Before You’re Picked, You’ve Gotta Be Proven

  • These guys weren’t chosen at random. They were already walking in wisdom, integrity, and full of the Spirit. They didn’t show up the day the apostles made the announcement. They’d been doing the work before anybody handed them a title.
  • God doesn’t promote potential alone—He promotes preparation. You don’t need a platform to prove your faithfulness. Just keep showing up and doing what He called you to do.
  • Luke 16:10 (NKJV)He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

Affirmation Is Powerful—But It’s Not the Goal

  • When the apostles laid hands on these men, it wasn’t just a religious ritual—it was a public “yes” to what God had already confirmed privately. That moment wasn’t about boosting their egos. It was about releasing them to carry more weight in the church.
  • Recognition isn’t the reward—responsibility is.
  • Affirmation should never go to your head; it should deepen your heart for people.
  • 2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV) Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

God Confirms What Already Sees In You

  • The truth is, you don’t need man’s validation to be valuable. But sometimes, God uses people to speak out loud what He’s already whispered in your spirit. Public affirmation does two things: it confirms you, and it encourages others who are watching.
  • Sometimes your “yes” in private becomes someone else’s courage in public.
  • When people see you being affirmed, it stirs up something in them: “If God can do it for them, He can do it for me.”
  • Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV) Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
