Seasons Part 7: It Takes All Of That
Seasons Part 7: It Takes All Of That
Acts 6:7 (NKJV) 7Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
When Order Is in Place
- Order is the foundation of multiplication. In Acts 6, we see disorder threatening the unity and effectiveness of the early church. Complaints arose because the needs of some widows were being overlooked (Acts 6:1).
- Disorder can lead to distraction.
- The apostles didn’t ignore the issue—they addressed it with order.
- They set a structure in place that preserved the integrity of the ministry of the Word and prayer.
- Growth stalls in chaos, but flourishes in order.
When the Right People Are in Place
- The apostles didn’t try to do everything themselves. Instead, they empowered others.
- They said, “Choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom.” (Acts 6:3)
- These weren’t just warm bodies—they were the right people. They had character, capability, and calling.
- When the right people are in the right roles, ministry (life) accelerates.
When People Are Clear on Their Assignment
- The apostles clarified their focus: “We will turn this responsibility over to them and give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4)
- They didn’t get distracted trying to do everything. They understood their assignment and stayed in their lane.
- The seven knew their assignment too—serve the community practically so the apostles could serve spiritually.
When Systems Are in Place
- What the apostles created was not just delegation—it was a system.
- A system is a way of doing ministry that was sustainable, scalable, and Spirit-led.
- Systems help us steward growth.
- Without systems, even good things become burdens. But with systems, what was once a challenge becomes a channel for grace.
The Result
- The Word of God spread and the number of disciples increased rapidlyMultiply Meaning and Usage
- To increase
- To multiply
- To abound
- To grow in number or quantity
- This verb emphasizes not just growth, but expansive, often exponential growth—a swelling beyond addition into multiplication. It reflects the idea of a rapid, overflowing increase in size, impact, or influence.
Structure is Necessary for Growth
- Without structure, the progress you’ve made can quickly unravel. It’s not enough to pray for more—more time, more opportunity, more influence—if you don’t have a framework to hold and protect it.
- Look at the life of Joseph:
- Genesis 41:35 (NKJV) And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
- You have to build a structure and systems you can to grow in.
